The NSRI has two objectives. One is to save lives on South African waters and the other to promote water and boating safety.
Indian Ocean Skippers Training - Supports the NSRI The National Sea Rescue Institute of South Africa is dedicated to assisting people in distress both at sea and on inland waters The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is run by 980 highly skilled, unpaid volunteers who are on standby day and night throughout the year. There are 32 coastal and three inland rescue bases, a fleet of 92 rescue craft, 27 vehicles and we have access to a range of helicopters. We enjoy a good working relationship with other emergency services and we believe that it is through team effort that lives are saved. The NSRI requires funds to operate an effective rescue service. It receives very little government funding, while the majority of its funds are generated through donations, legacies, subscriptions and fundraising efforts. Membership of the National Sea Rescue Institute will give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting a voluntary organisation devoted to the saving of life and property on coastal and inland water NSRI Contact Details Tel: 021 434 4011 Email: info@ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
